Are you in a large airport sprawled for acres trying to find its ticket counter or washroom? Or searching for your favourite brand showroom in a huge shopping mall? With the new Google Maps 6.0 specially for Android, there is no need for you to run around looking for enquiry counter at an airport or a shopping mall.

Till now, Google Maps guided us to find the way outdoors with the usual blue dot that indicates where you are right now. But now Google has partnered with “some of the largest retailers, airports and transit stations in United States and Japan” and helps you find where you are and what you are looking for in these places with its new Google Maps 6.0. Google Maps for Android now “enables you to figure out where you are and see where you might want to go when you’re indoors”. In other words, it helps you determine which floor you are on and where the place you are looking for is. Android users can also use other available features such as finding out restaurants and stores in the vicinity of a few metres.

With Google Maps 6.0, when you enter these selected places and open the Google Maps, their detailed floor plans would appear. As you move around, the interface would automatically get updated to show the location where you are right now. Google has added a few airports and stores for the time being; however, in course of time it would be adding more locations around the United States and Japan. Currently, this facility is for Android devices including mobile phones and tablets. IPhone users might have to wait for some more time.

The help centre for Google Maps for Android has the complete list of indoor locations in the United States and Japan where you could avail this facility for now. In fact, if you have a business of your own and wish to add the floor plan of your store in the Maps, you could do that as well through the help centre. Very soon, your customers could find you through Google Maps and thus reach you faster and easier.

A submarine cable and marine management project to connect Kinmen and Xiamen has been approved for development through Chunghwa Telecom, the National Communications Commission (NCC) has announced. The undersea cable project will be completed in March and is expected to greatly improve the quality of telecommunications at both ends.

The NCC approved the Taiwan telecom giant’s plan to construct a direct Kinmen Xiamen submarine cable link. The project will be funded by CHT, the company behind the marine management project, China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile.

The brand new undersea cable will be the first submarine cable to provide direct cross Taiwan strait telecommunications. CHT marine management will cover half of the cost of construction, while their 3 China based partners will cover the other half between them.

The submarine cable has been designed to provide a transmission capacity of 9.6 TBps (TeraBytes per second), but this capacity could well be expanded upon depending on the actual demand, said CHT.

The system includes two lines including one connecting Kinmen’s Guningtou to Xiamen’s Dadeng Island, through 9.7 kilometers of submarine cable in total, and another connecting Kinmen’s Lake Ci to Xiamen’s Guanyin Mountain, with 11 km of undersea cable in total. Both submarine cable projects will adopt a non-repeater submarine cable system, the company added.

As well as greatly improving telecommunications quality in both regions, the brand new submarine cable system will also provide bigger bandwidth services. The new cable line is set to link up with domestic submarine cables including Taiwan-Kinmen and Taiwan-Kinmen-Penghu lines.

Internet vs Landline Phones

Whether you have an internet operated telephone or a landline phone, the truth is that it is a necessary device. People still need home phones for home operated businesses and emergency calls. Deciding what kind of unit to purchase is a personal choice.
There are several differences between Landline phones and internet phones. Landline phones operate from telephone lines that are built into the house. The lines are located in areas close to the electrical sockets. Internet phones are connected to the computer and run off the internet. They are wonderful devices but if the internet service is not working, the unit will not be operational.
As far as pricing goes, internet phones are slightly cheaper and most services do not charge separate costs for long distance calling. That provides a great deal of savings for a frugal customer. Landline phones may be a bit more expensive but in some cases reception is better.

NexTraq adds to Vehicle Tracking Services

NexTraq has announced they have a new one minute reporting and 12 month retention option data. NexTraq is one of the available companies offering vehicle tracking. Their fleet tracking solutions are based on GPS. As part of their standard package service they will provide one minute reporting for all vehicles in the fleet. It is designed to be a new standard for the industry as a whole. NexTraq is an Atlanta, Georgia company which has yet to reach the UK market, but will most likely help benefit other UK companies in future.

They are also going to be offering 12 month data retention without an additional charge. For the US they are the only vendor willing to offer this especially in the telematics industry. The CEO stated they feel one minute reporting will be a new standard across the entire industry and not just for one company. This is how they feel it will impact not just the US but also the UK.

For right now reporting options in the UK can be set depending on certain parameters. Real time tracking is a part of most vehicle tracking options. A management team can pull up information about the fleet vehicles and have real time data, but this is different from the one minute reporting. The one minute reporting option will also include other options.

NexTraq stated they are going to stop charging for two minute reporting options since they are going to offer one minute reporting without additional fees. They have decided to make these changes because they have listened to their consumers. The 12 month standard on data retention is also being added based on consumer requirements.

Fleet analytics are going to be more involved in the whole process in order to offer a better performance indicator. With new data and system options in the industry it makes it easier to lower the costs of GPS vehicle tracking. The fact that 12 months of data will be held can also make budgeting easier in the year to follow. With only six months of data before it was hard to look back at the beginning of a year once it ended.

NexTraq was formerly Discrete Wireless. In the US they are a top company with cloud applications to make their services even better. It is possible with companies operating in the US from the UK to have NexTraq if they prefer.

How to become a Vegas Showgirl

All of the big Las Vegas casinos put on shows to attract crowds to the casino, and instead of hiring new dancers every time the change the show, they hire full time dancers and these girls are called Showgirls.

If you have ever thought about putting elaborate costumes and dancing in front of crowds every night, then becoming a Vegas Showgirl may be the job for you.

Being a Vegas Showgirl is not an easy job. You must be in top physical condition if you expect to be a professional dancer, and it is important to remember that not everyone will make it, becoming a professional dancer is a roll of the dice, you have better odds of winning an
Online Craps game then making it as a dancer.

There are several things you can do to help improve your chances of getting your carrier as a Las Vegas Casino dancer started:

Dance lessons, if you want to be a professional dancer you have to learn several different styles of dance, and dance them all well. This may be the hardest part to becoming a dancer. This part will take many years and require you to spend several hours a day every day taking dancing lessons.

Physical Conditioning, dancing requires lots of endurance and stamina. Besides the workouts you will get from all the dancing lessons you will take you will also need to work out on your own regularly. These workouts should include aerobic and some weight training.

Weight training should not be done to build muscle mass only for building strength and muscle toning. The best way to do this is by doing high repetition counts of low weights. This method will make the existing muscles stronger but will not bulk you up.

To pursue a carrier in dancing in a Vegas Casinos it is important to target the leg, stomach and back muscle groups. It is from these muscle groups that a dancer moves.

Diet, Dancers are required to be tossed around and lifted into the air, not to mention the fact that most dancers are skin tight and for these reasons dancers must always watch their weight.

Many Las Vegas Showgirls have to get on the scale every week and if they gain weight they could get thrown out of the show. Always remember there are many people that dream of dancing professionally, and the casinos will not hesitate to throw a girl out and replace her for the slightest reason.

Once you feel you are good enough you can start sending in resumes. A resume should include each different style of dance that you know and how long you have been doing it, and it should also include all prior dance experience.

A good way to get experience is to get yourself in as many different things you can. Local theater groups are a great way to gain experience. Getting a job as a dance instructor Is also a good way to gain experience and practice at the same time.

By sending your resume to all the different casinos you can greatly increase your chances of getting at least one audition. Do not expect to get hired at the more popular casinos on your first audition. The bigger Las Vegas casinos usually like to hire girls with more experience, so you will probably have to work as a showgirl at a smaller casino first.

How To Add A USB 2.0 Hub To Your Computer

How To Add A USB 2.0 Hub To Your Computer

Digital and video Cameras, scanners, mp3 players, and just about every other electronic device are designed to be connected to your computer.

And all new computers make it simple to connect these devices with the use of the USB or Universal Serial Bus port. But with the many devices you may have, you can still run short of these ports.

If you find your computer using all of its USB ports, you can get your hands on a USB Hub. This hub contains several usb ports. So rather than unplugging one device to plug in another, a usb hub allows you to connect multiple devices.

To setup a usb hub on your computer you need to be sure your system allow you to connect the hub. If your computer was made before 1997 it most likely won’t support a USB.

Check your computer to see if there is a usb port available. http://www.ultimatepcrepair.com/photos.html have photos showing what USB ports look like and where they should be found in any computer.

You should consider the reason you want to purchase a USB hub. This will help in deciding the type of usb hub you want to purchase. And research the device you want to connect, as not all devices can be connected to USB hubs.

The two types of USB hubs are the Self Powered which draws power from an external power supply and the bus powered hub which is inserted in an expansion slot and draws power from the motherboard.

Some devices that use large amounts of power work poorly with bus powered hubs. A scanner for example, will wotk much better connected to a self powered USB hub.

When connecting a device to the USB hub, see what version of usb it may be. USB 1.0 was the first version released and today the fast version is the usb 2.0 All USB 2.0 hubs are backward compatible. This allows them to run the slower USB 1.0 devices.

The price of a hub 2.0 hub varies from about $25.00 to $65.00 and comes in several brands. The price depends on the number of ports you want on the hub.

INSTALLING YOUR NEW USB HUB

Its always a good practice to backup your files before you work in your computer.Remove the hub from its packing and carefully inspect it for damaged and be sure all components are present. Stop and carefully read the hub manual for instructions such as turn the computer off first or that you must install the software before connecting the hub to the computer.

If you have a powered hub, plug the power cord in an outlet and connect the usb cable from the usb hub into an open USB port. With the hub connected place the cdrom that come with the hub and install the software onto the hard drive.

Set the USB hub in a location where you can easily connect your scanner, modem,or other devices. Remember that your computer only runs at the highest usb speed. If your hub is a USB 2.0 but your computer only supports USB 1.0 then the 1.0 connection will be your max speed.

If your USB hub is self powered, install the card in an empty expansion slot by removing the system unit cover, removing the retaining screw and cover from the slot, firmly slide the card in the slot, and use the retaining screw to secure it to the motherboard.

Start your computer and your operating system should recognize the new device. Install any software that came with the hub.You may need to install a device driver to allow the computer to communicate with the hub.

Its that easy and why not make it something fun to do. Learn as you go and be in the state of mind to enjoy your task. You will look forward to perform other tasks in the same state of mind.

How Plasma TVs And LCD TVs Differ

The buying of large-screen TVs has absolutely skyrocketed lately. It seems that everyone wants one and with good reason. The large-screen TV has come a long way from those faded-out behemoths of old that took up half your living room and never really produced a picture of decent quality. Now, however, especially in combination with HDTV, you can get not only a nice, large picture, but a crisp, clean one too.

Once you decide that youre ready for a large-screen TV, you quickly discover that you only really have two main options a plasma TV or an LCD TV. Plasma TVs were first on the scene, but the recent mass production of LCD TVs by major manufactures has put LCD TVs pretty much on equal footing with plasmas. That said, you will still have to make a choice.

If youre like most people, you not only have no idea how the two differ, you dont even know the areas you should be considering in order to determine how they differ. But they do indeed differ, and knowing the difference is extremely important if youre going to get the TV thats right for you.

You can essentially boil the differences between plasmas and LCDs into twelve basic points. In some areas, plasmas will win out. In other areas, LCDs will win out. In yet other areas, it will depend on your own personal taste in order to decide who wins out.

The twelve ways plasma TVs and LCD TVs differ are the following:

1. The first is a technical issue, and may seem a little boring, but it really does affect other areas. Plasmas TVs are made of chemical compounds called phosphors. LCD TVs use millions of liquid crystals.

2. The next section is related to how big the TVs are and the availability of larger sizes. You have a wider selection of larger-size TVs with plasmas (though LCDs are catching up).

3. The next section is small size, which is also important. Plasmas don’t come in smaller sizes, which you will need for places like the kitchen.

4. Next is viewing angle. Plasmas tend to have a wider viewing angle (though, again, LCDs are catching up).

5. Although the manufacturers may not like to admit it, each can suffer from certain problems. Plasmas can suffer from burn-in effect; LCDs don’t.

6. Another problem area, but for LCDs, is delay. LCDs can produce a jagged figure when in motion. Plasmas tend to do better. HDTV improves this dramatically for both.

7. The next area is life span. You can replace the light source with an LCD, thereby bringing your original picture back. With plasmas you can’t.

8. In the next few sections, the theme of picture quality is considered. First, color: LCDs produce sharp, lively colors. Plasmas produce warmer and more accurate colors.

9. Next is brightness levels and the TVs ability to handle different lighting. LCDs tend to do better in bright-light conditions.

10. Also related to picture quality is black levels. Plasmas tend to produce blacker blacks.

11. Another area to consider is contrast range. Plasmas, “technically,” produce a higher contrast range.

12. Last, and certainly not least, is price. At the moment, plasmas tend to run a little cheaper, but this is changing rapidly as LCDs flood into the market. By the time you read this, in fact, there may be no difference at all.

Essentially, which one is right for you will all comes down to taste: What potential negatives will you not really notice? What positives do you want more of? What do you really want the TV for movies, sports, news, regular TV shows? Both plasmas and LCDs have strong advocates in their corners. Both have deliriously happy customers. But those happy customers are only happy because they knew what they wanted before they made their purchase. If you want to make the right choice, youll have to decide what it is you want and which of the two TVs can best give you that.

How many Macs are too many macs?

Please don’t think me greedy.

I’m just attached to my Macs.

I suspect I’m not alone: The more Mac computers I get, the harder it is to part with them. I no sooner pay for one than I buy another. And although I have sold a few over the years, lately I’m turning into a Mac miser.

You know those little old ladies that the newspapers regularly write about that have 347 cats in their house?

That’s what I’m worried I may be like with my Macs.

I have a dual processor G5 with dual monitors, a 15-in PowerBook, a 15-in MacBook Pro, a G5 20-inch iMac and – thanks to work – a new 17-inch MacBook Pro.

Theres no way I can use them all. But its almost impossible to part with any of them.

I, for sure, should sell the PowerBook and, twice now, have started to post it on eBay or Craigs List, only to chicken out at the last minute. The new Intel MacBooks dont work with my Verizon Broadband Access PC card. The PowerBook does. So, I tell myself, I may need it when I go on vacation in a few weeks in case the place where well be staying doesnt have Net access.

Then theres the new 15-in MBP. I bought it in March, only to be pleasantly surprised when, a month later, my employer suddenly provided me with a 17-in MBP. I should sell the 15-in. But, then again, thats mine. What if work suddenly took back their 17-incher. And so the 15-in MBP sits in a carrycase. Just in case.

I dont really use the big G5 and the two monitor setup anymore either. But when it comes to listing them, I get queasy. Itd be like selling a child. Or getting rid of my dog. I cant. i just cant.

The iMac is easy. I have given that to my wife. No way would she part with that. Shes now as hooked on Macs as I am.

Still, I wonder. how many Macs are too many Macs?
