A submarine cable and marine management project to connect Kinmen and Xiamen has been approved for development through Chunghwa Telecom, the National Communications Commission (NCC) has announced. The undersea cable project will be completed in March and is expected to greatly improve the quality of telecommunications at both ends.

The NCC approved the Taiwan telecom giant’s plan to construct a direct Kinmen Xiamen submarine cable link. The project will be funded by CHT, the company behind the marine management project, China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile.

The brand new undersea cable will be the first submarine cable to provide direct cross Taiwan strait telecommunications. CHT marine management will cover half of the cost of construction, while their 3 China based partners will cover the other half between them.

The submarine cable has been designed to provide a transmission capacity of 9.6 TBps (TeraBytes per second), but this capacity could well be expanded upon depending on the actual demand, said CHT.

The system includes two lines including one connecting Kinmen’s Guningtou to Xiamen’s Dadeng Island, through 9.7 kilometers of submarine cable in total, and another connecting Kinmen’s Lake Ci to Xiamen’s Guanyin Mountain, with 11 km of undersea cable in total. Both submarine cable projects will adopt a non-repeater submarine cable system, the company added.

As well as greatly improving telecommunications quality in both regions, the brand new submarine cable system will also provide bigger bandwidth services. The new cable line is set to link up with domestic submarine cables including Taiwan-Kinmen and Taiwan-Kinmen-Penghu lines.

It is good search engine optimisation to surround images on your site with relevant, keyword rich text, be it headers, captions or other text outlets. We have already established throughout this series of basic tutorials that search engines are not set up to interact directly with images and require keyword text to locate relevant pages for the users search engine query.

For this reason it is necessary to include all of the relevant keywords and phrases in unique, descriptive, relevant, quality text. But it can also be incredibly helpful to bolster the relevant keywords surrounding your image with the words ‘picture’ and ‘image’. This can help to ensure that the image included on your page performs well in SEO terms, because when most people are using search engine to locate a particular image, they will include the words ‘image’ or ‘picture’ in their search queries.

Include these words in the text content used as headings or descriptions of images can provide an added competitive edge to the page’s SEO performance. If a search engine user inputs a more general search query on the subject matter, your keyword inclusion should still have the desired effect. The use of the words ‘image’ and ‘picture’ simply increases your chances of success for more specific search queries too.

The same theory applies to video search queries though this particular kind of query is not quite as prolific as those related to images. The aim of the SEO game is often to entice the search engines with as much descriptive and relevant copy as possible, so since you are describing an image it stands to reason that your text content will be relevant to this.

Technology Focus – Modern Hearing Tests

Around 1 in 6 of us struggle with some degree of hearing difficulty, and it isn’t a surprise, given the many possible causes of hearing loss; from a damaged eardrum or build up of wax to natural, age-related deterioration. Technology is playing an ever greater part in relieving this problem from ever most sophisticated hearing aids through to aiding the testing process. This article focuses on that process.

If you are over the age of 55, it is recommended that your hearing be tested on a regular basis, as part of an overall healthcare regime. A hearing test is incredibly simple; comprised of just four easy steps. These are as follows:

Step One – Consultation

Your Hearing Aid Dispenser will begin by asking about both your hearing and your general health.

Step Two – Ear Exam

The Hearing Aid Dispenser will then proceed with the examination of your ears using an otoscope; a special, torch-like device that is used to illuminate your ear canal and ear drum. They will examine the health of your inner ear and check for any obstructions within the ear canal, which may be impairing your ability to hear.

Step Three – Hearing Test

From there technology takes over. The actual hearing test is performed using a puretone audiometer, a calibrated device linked to a computer which delivers a series of sounds at different pitches and volumes through a set of headphones. You will be asked to identify which of a series of different sounds you can hear and the results of the test will be plotted on a graph know as an audiogram. This graph shows how well you can hear against the standardised average. Because everyone’s hearing needs are different this technological approach is much more sophisticated way of gauging the patient’s requirments.

Step Four – Discussion

As with most things technology alone cannot represent the be all and end all of the process but it provides an accurate picture of the state of the patients hearing. So finally the Hearing Aid Dispenser will discuss your results with you and recommend any action that may be needed to improve you hearing, if it is deemed necessary to do so. If a hearing aid is ultimately required, they will also explain and demonstrate the options available to you. Whatever the outcome, you will receive expert, unbiased and completely professional advice about your hearing requirements.
